GameStop: E3 will have “fantastic innovation” and big VR focus

E3 2015 will offer gamers “fantastic innovation” with a strong VR focus, according to videogame retailer GameStop.

With E3 2015 now just weeks away, a lot of people are getting very excited as to what will be on offer.

Retailer GameStop is no exception it seems as the company’s Chief Operating Officer gave his opinion on the show as part of GameStop’s latest earnings presentation.

“There’s going to be a lot of gameplay at E3, and we’re excited to see that,” said Tony Bartel. “We’re excited to have others see what we’ve seen already, which is fantastic innovation amongst these games.”

Bartel went on to outline that he believes VR will be a strong focus at the show, presumably based on conversations he’s had with industry insiders.

“I think the other thing that’s going to take a lot of space and time at E3 is virtual reality. I think that’s going to be something that a lot of people spend a lot of time on.”

That’s not exactly too outlandish a prediction though, as Valve’s HTC Vive headset is due out before the end of the year and Sony is predicted to show off the first Project Morpheus games at this year’s E3.

The Oculus Rift and Project Morpheus consumer models are due out in the first half of 2016 too.

Apparently, Microsoft’s VR/AR headset HoloLens is also due for an E3 showing.

E3 2015 runs from June 14 – 18, with Bethesda kicking off the show with its first ever press conference.
