Game of the Year goes to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt at #TrustedReviewsAwards

awards 3

It’s official, Game of the Year has gone to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt at the TrustedReviews Awards 2015.

CD Projeckt Red’s RPG wowed both readers and judges with its immersive game world, an overwhelming amount of activities to take part in, and engaging storyline.

The other contenders, Metal Gear Solid 5 and GTA 5 (PC), just missed out in a category that was a close one to call.

“As far as RPGs go, The Witcher 3 is as good as it gets.” said Samantha Loveridge, TrustedReviews Games Editor.

“GTA 5 was great on PC, and the first person view was a great addition. Metal Gear Solid was one of the best games of the year too. But The Witcher 3 was so ambitious, so well done, and so addictive, it really was Game of the Year.”

There have been a number of high-profile releases this year with the likes of Batman: Arkham Knight, Forza Motorsport 6, and The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D all being shortlisted for the TrustedReviews Game of the Year.

“It’s been a great year for gamers and it’s only going to get better,” added Sam.

“With Star Wars Battlefront and Rainbow Six Siege both due out before Christmas, and a tonne of big titles scheduled for the new year, next year’s awards are going to be even harder to call.”

You're damn right it is indeed the Game of the Year! Fallout 4 can suck it up!

I think that november and december games don't get nominated at all afaik.

Yes, but anyway, they gave Witcher 3 a solid 10/10 while Fallout 4 received a 8/10. Still there would be no competition.

Witcher 3 is amazing. You can tell they put so much hard work into it. its well crafted rich world. Best RPG ever?

I completely agree. I am very picky about my rpgs(my favourite of all time was Gothic I&II) but this is without question the best game AT ALL I've ever played.

You don't see me complaining, was there really any other game that could top Witcher 3?

Though it's not perfect, definitely deserved GOTY

Pillars was way better. Shadowrun HK wasn't as good as DF but it was still leagues better than TW3.

Gothic II: NotR is aeons better than the cutscene-fest, MMO-filler packed and extremely limited aRPG-lite that is TW3. Sure, it's better than Fallout 4 and MGSV, but so are most things.

Bethesda hasn't learn about making a proper RPG game...and now the implemented oversimplified "rpg" mechanics for the general audience and cash in the fallout franchise

Why did you mention Fallout in a witcher related article? Oh and the combat and atmosphere is better than the Witcher.

I would never give it the honor of calling it the "best RPG ever", but it's a decent RPG I suppose

November 13, 2015, 2:19 am

Well deserved, story, gameplay and open world were perfect.

Cause that makes perfect sense for game of the year awards. /s
Not to mention the fact that they don't seem to be aware that indies exist.

am i the only one who sold the game back after only 12 hours of gameplay? i thought the combat system was HORRIBLE.

...How did this even win game of the year? other people i know were having the same problems. out of the 30 or so different video game campaigns i have played, witcher 3 is one of the very few that i never completed because i wasn't looking forward to playing it. The other one was AC Unity.

I've played many rpg's that are better then this. this is BS.

Btw...Bloodborne wiped the floor with this game.

as a rpg it was epic. A very rich world you need to play more than 12 hours to appreciate. I struggled early on too but you start to see the quality in everything.

The combat was also not to great for me. Also had a problem with rewards after big fights. You'd have to get invested in the story to be ok with completing some missions for weak gear. The outcome becomes the reward

I think some just prefer a different style/mechanic.

mmo filler? that was DA inquisition. In TW3 you quickly learn you don't have to go around killing creeps/mobs. So little xp from that. The game has a lot of story and meaningful quests that you get xp from.

no, i was impressed by the open world. that wasn't the issue. obviously it has one of the best open world maps since gta 5. my issue was that it was boring, complicated at times, the combat was terrible, and it got old really fast.

The first 4 or 6 hours of the game were great...then it just got old really fast.

Points of Interest that pepper your map with enough question marks to make even Richard Osman uncomfortable, the obnoxious "use ur witcher senses" ability which is relied on for pretty much every quest in the game, enemies are clustered together in patches and they're all tied to invisible bungie cords so you can just run away without fear, enemies respawn almost immediately, and very typically they're the exact same as ones you just killed, the level of the enemy you're fighting appears IN BRIGHT BOLD NUMBERS right above his or her head, and many many many more.

The game is a single-player MMO married to an interactive movie.

November 13, 2015, 8:15 am

not even close... W3 combat is great.. you just have to learn it.. F4 on the other side, has same flaws of F3 and NV... enemies are bullet sponges, you need to fire so many bullets, you would normally kill even terminator with it...

November 13, 2015, 8:54 am

I agree that it's stupid :P
They should do them on January based on past year or something.
Indies are awesome. Wasn't there indie category in Golden Joystick Award? I believe Kerbal Space Program won that one.

November 13, 2015, 8:55 am

I have a feeling you did not actually play that game.

November 13, 2015, 9:23 am

In my opinion the first hours of the game were the least intereting :) - still great, but after those first hours, mainly when you did get to Velen, Novigrad and Skellige, those moments were the best in game and in this years games overall

November 13, 2015, 10:26 am

I thought the combat was good, although I really hated it when playing with a keyboard and mouse, a controller made a huge difference.
