Samsung GS6 invite

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is set to be announced this Sunday, March 1, but latest reports have suggested the handset might not hit retailers until April.

While all eyes will be on this weekend’s pre-MWC unveiling, reports out of India have suggested the eagerly awaited handset will only be available to consumers from “the second week of April”.

According to the Indian Broadcasting Network, unnamed insiders have claimed there will be around six weeks between the handset’s unveiling and launch.

What’s more, this localised early April launch will reportedly coincide with a global rollout.

Although no specific date is mentioned, a launch in the second week in April would likely see the Galaxy S6 hit retailers’ shelves around Friday April 10.

Last year, the Galaxy S5 simultaneously rolled out to more than 150 nations on April 11.

As you might expect, Samsung has yet to offer any official word on the upcoming Galaxy S6 release date.

According to recent reports, the Galaxy S6 will pair a new, 2560 x 1440 pixel QHD display with an improved 20-megapixel, OIS-enhanced primary camera.

Adding to the market-leading specs sheet, Google’s Android 5.0 Lollipop OS is expected to be skinned with a newly refined TouchWiz UI while an improved fingerprint scanner is tipped to make an appearance.

Samsung’s MWC Unpacked event will kick off at 6:30pm this Sunday, March 1. TrustedReviews will be on hand to bring you all the latest on the S6 unveiling.
