Good news, Galaxy Note 8 owners: Samsung seems to be accelerating rollout of the much-anticipated Android 8.0 Oreo update for its handset, with UK Note 8 owners now following in the footsteps in their US cousins and reporting receiving the software refresh.
We can thank Trusted Reviews reader and Twitter user @MAJOR_Strife for the tip-off that the Note 8 seems to be getting a taste of Android Oreo in the UK – the ‘SM-N950F’ under ‘SE for Android status’ being the UK and European model number for the Note 8.

Prior to this, a thread on Reddit had US users reporting on the update landing. It apparently tips the scale at 1122MB and includes both Samsung Experience v9.0 and the latest Android security patch (March 2018).
And before that still, the Android Oreo release was making the rounds in France, according to SamMobile.
Android 8.0 Oreo, as we’ve reported in the past, transports a slew of neat new features, such as support for Picture-in-Picture (PiP), notification channels, adaptive icons and circular emoji, as well as a number of much-needed bug fixes.

This particular update also bundles all of the patches included in this month’s Security Maintenance Release (SMR), intended to arm the Galaxy Note 8 with protection against unauthorised remote access attempts, among other things.
Those in line for the update can check to see if it’s ready for their Galaxy Note 8 by navigating into Settings, selecting About Device, then tapping Download Updates Manually – or they can wait for a notification instructing them to install the OTA.
