Love the Galaxy S7? Samsung’s Galaxy Note 6 screen is just as good – report

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 6 (or Note 7?) is nearly upon us, and the leaks are basically interminable. Today’s hot rumour concerns the new Note’s screen.

Samsung is planning to follow on from the success of the critically acclaimed Galaxy S7 by re-using the phone’s display on the Galaxy Note 6. That’s according to South Korea’s ETNews, which says that Samsung will even source QHD-resolution AMOLED screen components from the exact same three material suppliers: Samsung SDI, The Dow Chemical Company, and Idemitsu Kosan.

The article cites unnamed industry sources, which unfortunately means we can’t verify this information. However, we’d be surprised if Samsung didn’t try to mimic the Galaxy S7 as closely as possible, given its success.

Recent reports suggest that the Galaxy Note 6 will only be available in a curved dual-edge variant. Only yesterday, The Korea Herald suggested that there won’t be a flat Note handset this year. That means the phone is much more likely to look like the Galaxy S7 Edge than the Galaxy S7 proper.

Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Note 6 at a dedicated launch event in New York in August – although no such plans have been publicly confirmed. It’s also rumoured that the phone will go on sale that same day, unlike previous years where the release date has been slightly delayed post-reveal.

Rumour Galaxy Note 6 features include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 processor, Adreno 530 GPU, 6GB RAM, 256GB storage, and a QHD screen resolution.
