The Samsung Galaxy S7 is a success, there’s no doubt; will the Galaxy Note 6 follow suit?

Samsung is planning to borrow one the Galaxy S7’s best features for the upcoming (but unconfirmed) Galaxy Note 6, a new report claims.

According to SamMobile, the Galaxy Note 6 will be IP68 certified, which means it will be waterproof up to a depth of 1.5 metres for 30 minutes.

The certification was a major selling point for the acclaimed Galaxy S7, but wasn’t featured on the Galaxy S6.

It seems that Samsung may be keen to capitalise on the popularity of the phone by carrying the feature over to its flagship phablet line-up.

“We can exclusively confirm the body [of the Galaxy Note 6] will be IP68 certified, just like the Galaxy S7,” reads the report.

It continues: “The IP68 certified body should then be able to withstand submersion in one-and-a-half metres of water during half an hour. This would make the Note 6 Samsung’s first true-water and dust-resistant phablet.”

The report also suggests that the long-rumoured handset will feature an iris-scanner, citing GalaxyClub as the source.

The Galaxy Note 6 is expected to launch later this year, with some rumours suggesting Samsung has a mid-July reveal planned.

The handset is rumoured to sport a 6-inch screen, 6GB of RAM, and a hefty 4,000mAh battery. It's also tipped to feature Google's new Android N software.
