Confirmed: No 128GB versions of Note 5 and S6 Edge+ after all

by

S6 Edge Plus 17

Update: Perhaps it was too good to be true. Apparently Samsung won't be offering 128GB versions of the Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge+ after all.

The company has confirmed that the options listed on the Samsung website are incorrect. As such, the pages are being updated with the correct information.

*sigh*

Original article:

Something strange is happening over at Samsung HQ’s mobile division.

It turns out that there will be 128GB version of Samsung’s new phablets after all.

Samsung told press yesterday that both the Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge+ would be shipping in 32GB and 64GB storage options only.

That was the official line pushed at both the press conference and in official press materials.

However, the Samsung US online store is offering 128GB versions of both handsets (1,2). Confusing, right?

Either Samsung has made a mistake on its online store, or there was a bewildering omission at yesterday’s announcement.

Unfortunately, the 128GB version of the S6 Edge+ device isn’t appearing on Samsung’s UK website.

Couple that with the fact that the Note 5 isn’t coming to the UK, and it seems like Brits won’t be able to get their hands on a new 128GB Samsung phablet at all.

It seems odd that the UK isn’t getting a 128GB handset, particularly as neither device offers a microSD port.

That will likely turn off the power users that Samsung’s Note series has always attracted.

Do you think Samsung should bring a 128GB S6 Edge+ to the UK? Let us know in the comments.

Samsung (and particularly Samsung UK) seemingly has a LOT of damage control to do after that press release yesterday... just seems like they have completely lost the plot with the most recent generation; alienating long-term supporters and removing features that have long been the reason Samsung were popular in the first place...

Honestly epic Fail. The new phones may have more memory than the S6
but the big deviation is no cpu bump so what is the point. Whoever made
the decisions should be fired. So no release for the Note in the UK
Fail!, Potentially no 128Gb option Fail!, Trying to be Applesque Fail!
No SD Card or removable battery Fail! Get something right, I might not
be ranting as much if the Note and storage options were available.
People have always accepted the no battery and the no SD card in Apple
because they never had them in the first place. The presence of those
two were always the Android user's trump card.

Don't get me
started on their poor update policies. My Note 3 is still on 5.0. I
won't mention the Iphone 4s will probably still get IOS 9 ;), which is
the equivalent of the S3 and the Note 2 already having Lollipop and
still getting Android M... Fail again!

@Zeus.
Completely agree with you, Sammy's gone bonkers in one very fast swoop!

Just out interest, I've down loaded the Lollipop 5.01 to my Note 3 but not activated the install (I'm terrified of loosing the Menu button). Was that your experience?

@iFrank sorry to say seems my version of ROM or version of the Note 3 does not have any updates to 5.0.1. I'll have to go check on SamMobile's site to confirm.

Menu button on my Note 4 (5.0.1): press and hold the left hand capacitative button.

@ toboev.
Thanks for that!
Still have some uncertainties on other aspects of the upgrade, will research more.
