M9 leaks

New images of a smartphone purporting to be the HTC One M9 Plus have emerged just two weeks before the handset’s expected launch.

The device, which is almost assured to land on April 8, is set to be a sized up version of the existing HTC One M9.

The new images clarify plenty of details we’ve long known about the device, including the fact that it will carry a dual camera set-up on the rear, just like the HTC One M8.

It’s also going to boast a fingerprint sensor on the front bottom bezel, a feature that hasn’t been included on the HTC One M9.

What’s most interesting about this latest leak, however, is that we catch a glimpse of the entire spec sheet for the device in one of the images (via Nowheerelse).

For a start, it’s going to run off Android 5.0 Lollipop, which is Google’s latest operating system – that’s no big surprise.

What’s worth noting though is the chipset – the HTC One M9 Plus uses a MediaTek MT6795T processor, with PowerVR G6200 graphics.

That’s a big change from the HTC One M9, which uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810. The 810 has, of course, been at the centre of damning reports that suggest the chip has overheating issues.

The Plus also one-ups its predecessor in terms of screen resolution; the Plus uses a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution display, compared to the One M9’s lower resolution 1080p display.

The device will also ship with 3GB of RAM, a 20-megapixel camera, and 32GB of built-in storage, none of which are particularly surprising features.

As HTC hasn’t made any official announcements regarding the handset, we can’t say for sure what components will actually ship with the device.

We don’t have long to wait however, with the launch date set just days away.
