The forthcoming free DLC for Star Wars: Battlefront, will give gamers the chance to play out one of the final battles between the rebels and the Emipre.
The Battle of Jakku, which will act as a prequel of sorts to The Force Awakens, will pick up events at the end of Return of the Jedi with the Imperials on the verge of defeat.
As a Super Star Destroyer comes crashing down to earth Rebel soldiers will seek to locate and gain control of imperial strongholds.
In the new 40-player Turning Point mode Imperial fighters will split up seek to defend the bases.
There’ll be Airspeeders and AT-STs involved in the action, which will culminate with an assault on the Empire’s final base.
DICE's lead level designer Dennis Brännvall said (via Eurogamer): “At the edge of the map, the Empire has constructed a make-shift base as well as smaller fortifications strewn across the landscape," said in a statement.
"Rebels need to locate and capture one of three control points in Imperial control. The clock is ticking, but if the Rebel team succeeds with a capture additional time will be added and new control points will be available for capture.
"Moving through these increasingly challenging checkpoints, the ultimate goal is the Empire's base where the final stand will take place."
The free DLC will be officially available on December 8, while pre-order customers will have access a week early.
EA plans to showcase the gameplay in an event on Monday 30 November, which will be live on Twitch.
