Forza Motorsport 6 now has microtransactions

Microtransactions have been added to Forza Motorsport 6, which can be used to purchase cars, mod packs and other in-game items.

Xbox One exclusive racer Forza Motorsport 6 didn’t support microtransactions at launch, but developer Turn 10 has recently added the feature to the game.

Players can now purchase “Tokens” to spend on a variety of items in-game, including cars and mod packs.

Developer Turn 10 describes the feature in a recent blog post, stressing that microtransactions in Forza 6 are entirely optional.

"Players who do not wish to see the token feature in Forza Motorsport 6 menus will have the option to disable this feature from appearing by turning Tokens off in the HUD Options menu," it said.

The option is only there for players who wish to speed up their progress, easily able to see everything the game has to offer.

Tokens packs are now sale in Forza 6, you can check out the prices below:

  • 100 Tokens: 79p
  • 325 Tokens: £2.39
  • 575 Tokens: £3.99
  • 1,250 Tokens: £7.99
  • 2,700 Tokens: £15.99
  • 8,000 Tokens: £39.99
  • 20,000 Tokens: £64.99

Microtransactions aren’t anything new for the Forza franchise, as the last two entries also supported the practice.

Creative director Dan Greenawalt has frequently defended Turn 10’s decision to support microtransactions, having this to say on Forza 5 back in 2013:

"We don't have paywalls," Greenawalt explained. We have acceleration, and that was based on feedback from players in Forza 4--there's a small group of players that can't be bothered to do things and they have disposable income. They're the sim guys in a lot of cases. They don't want to do the career, and they don't value those aspects, and that's alright by me."

Forza Motorsport 6 is out now exclusively for the Xbox One
