The rapidly-deteriorating relationship between Nest and the rest of Google has been further exposed after internal memes mocking Tony Faddell and his smart home firm appeared online.
Recode has obtained a host of merciless images, created using the Memegen tool and circulated between Google employees.
The images were posted to Google’s internal systems following the well-publicised meeting where Fadell took to the floor to defend Nest, which hasn’t released a new product since coming under Google’s control.
The images you can see above seem inspired by Nest’s controversial decision to end support for the Revolv smart home platform, which was bought two years ago.
There is also thought to be friction between the two firms over a clash of cultures between the two companies.
Recode reports Google employees, used to a relaxed working environment, have been irked by an “acerbic corporate culture” at Fadell’s Nest.

According to the report, these memes are just the tip of the iceberg, with ‘far more brutal’ creations doing the rounds at Google.
Could we be at the beginning of a very expensive divorce between two rival firms now operating under the Alphabet umbrella? Or will cooler heads prevail?
