Inching out across a blind junction is nerve-wracking at the best of times, but Ford has finally developed a way to take the risk out of your morning commute.
The automaker has created a camera that allows its cars to see around corners, significantly reducing the potential for collision at junctions.
It’s called the ‘Front Split View Camera’, and can capture a 180-degree view from the front of the car when activated using a button.
The footage is then beamed directly to an 8-inch colour touchscreen within the car, giving a full view of what might be approaching from those frontal blind-spots.
“We have all been there and it’s not just blind junctions that can be stressful,
Hause continued: “For some, simply driving off their own driveways is a challenge. Much like rear-view cameras, Front Split View Camera is one of those technologies that people will soon wonder how they managed without.”

The 33mm camera uses a 1-megapixel sensor, and is positioned inside the car’s front grille.
It even has its owned dedicated retractable jet-washer that cleans the lens when the windscreen wipers are activated.
The camera is available as a £400 option on Ford’s new S-MAX and Galaxy models, which are available to order now.
Ford says it’ll also be offering the tech on the upcoming Ford Edge SUV, which is due to launch in Europe later this year.
