Football Manager Classic is coming to tablets later today, offering a more substantial experience for touch screen.
A special version of Football Manager is coming to the most recent iPad and Android tablets later today.
Sports interactive finally believes mobile technology has reached the point where tablets can handle an experience more akin to the full PC version of Football Manager.
That’s where Football Manager Classic comes in. It’s already a part of the Football Manager PC game, but tailored for touchscreen.
“Basically this is the Classic game mode from PC on tablet,” said Miles Jacobson, Sports Interactive Studio Manager in an interview with Eurogamer. “There are very few differences between the two.”
Football Manager Classic will be compatible with iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 2 and iPad mini 3 along with newer Android tablets – you can view the full list of compatible Android slates on the Football Manager site.
The tablet game features a 3D match engine just like the PC game with more data and more options than ever before on a mobile version of Football Manager.
“I’m just delighted there are finally tablet devices that are capable of it,” said Jacobson.
Football Manager Classic will drop for iPad models and Android tablets at midnight tonight.
But, because it’s a full PC experience, it will set you back the same amount as a full PC game – £14.99 on both the App Store and Google Play.
"It is a full product, as in, it is a full PC product, so we're going with a price of £14.99, which is obviously high for iOS but very cheap for PC and Mac," explained Jacobson. "We've been debating this one quite a lot and looking at quite a lot of different models, but for the amount of playtime that people are going to get it's still fantastic value for money."
