Since Sony revealed that the NGP would be known as the PlayStation Vita and cost €249 at E3 in June, we’ve been waiting for a launch date to be announced and we could now have inadvertently got it.
Sony told us the PS Vita would be released “towards the end of 2011” and a leaked flyer from Blockbuster has put the date as Friday, 28 October. Both the WiFi and 3G models of the PS Vita will go on sale on that date according to a flyer purporting to be from the retailer. A leaked copy (below) of the flyer was sent into IGN by a reader, but obviously its veracity has yet to be confirmed.
Blockbuster is saying nothing about the flyer but a date at the end of October as people are beginning to gear up for the Christmas season would seem like a very plausible launch date for the handheld console. The flyer also lists the prices of the two Vita models at £229.99 and £279.99, which is in line with what Sony has been saying about pricing.
We are anxiously waiting to get our hands on this next-generation handheld console and see how it stacks up against the likes of the 3DS. Let us know if you think this flyer looks like the real thing to you in the comments section below.
