Flectr is an ultra-performance wheel reflector for your bike

You might not consider reflectors an important part of your bike, but Flectr might just convince you otherwise.

It’s the most technologically advanced reflector ever. It’s more aerodynamic than a traditional reflector, not to mention “weightless and indestructible”, according to its makers. Though these two terms should probably be prefaced by “nigh on”.

By day, it looks like a small silver feather. By night, its thousands of microprisms get to work, generating a level of reflection that meets the standards of police and rescue vehicles.

It weighs just 0.7g, which is almost unnoticeable. And because of its shape and profile, it’s optimised to avoid air drag. The firm claims that in testing with incident flow velocities of up to 100mph, Flectr passed the tests without oscillation, movement or noise. Though if you can cycle that fast, you should be in the Tour de France.

It fits rounded and bladed spokes of any diameter, so you shouldn’t have any problems fixing it to your ride. There’s also a wheel magnet version coming soon.

It’s passed its funding goal by quite some way, and still has 17 days to go. The early birds are sold out, but you can still get a set of six by pledging €20 (£16). It’ll ship in July.
