Last month we got word of a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 catching fire and burning out a car in Florida.
Now, we know Apple and Samsung love to imitate each other, but this seems to be taking things a bit too far.
An iPhone 7 user in Australia left the device underneath some clothes in his car (while he went surfing obviously) and now the car is in a pretty bad way.
Surf instructor (obviously) Mat Jones now has no car and no iPhone, but thankfully his surfboard remains in tact.
“Ash was just coming from inside the pants which then, once you unwrapped the pants, the phone was just melting inside of it,” he told 7 News.
What caused the blaze remains unclear, but it’s possible it just got too hot in the car for the iPhone to handle.
The phone was purchased just a week ago and Jones said he hadn’t used one of those cheap chargers Apple hates so much.
Apple is investigating the issue to determine whether the iPhone in question was at fault.
