Leading fitness tracker maker Fitbit has revealed three new wearables: the Fitbit Surge, Fitbit Charge, and Fitbit Charge HR.
The Fitbit Surge is the company’s new flagship wearable. Expanding on the typical fitness band form factor of previous Fitbit devices, it’s a full-on “Fitness Super Watch”.
Besides advanced multi-sport fitness tracking capabilities, GPS, motion sensors, and heart rate sensors, the Fitbit Surge also packs such features as message alerts, caller ID, and music control.
We’re not talking full-on Android Wear or Apple Watch territory here, though. The Fitbit Surge comes with a simple LCD touchscreen display and – crucially – a claimed seven-day battery life.
The Charge and the Charge HR, meanwhile, see a mild advancement of Fitbit’s traditional fitness band range. Indeed, Fitbit describes the range as “Fitbit Force, reinvented.” Both come with compact OLED displays that show real time stats, as well as movement and sleep tracking capabilities. Just like the Fitbit Force, you also get caller ID.
Unique to the Charge HR is Fitbit’s proprietary PurePulse optical heart rate technology, which continuously tracks your heart rate using LED lights.
The Fitbit Surge will be available in early 2015 for $249.95. The Fitbit Charge is available to purchase now in the US for $129.95. The Fitbit Charge HR will become available in early 2015 for $149.95.
