HTC looks set to enter the smartwatch space, with concept renders of the first HTC Android Wear device appearing online.
Surfacing courtesy of repeated tech tipster @evleaks, the new HTC smartwatch image has shown off a square-faced, metal bodied device running a Sense UI themed version of Google’s new wearable OS.
Although the software skin is a mocked up bit of artistic license – so a load of old rubbish – the sources have claimed that the watch’s hardware “is a 100 per cent faithful reproduction” of a model already in the works at HTC’s HQ.
Like HTC’s leading smartphone, the HTC One M8, the company’s first smartwatch looks set to ditch the plastic materials used by its competitors and run a metal watch face and strap.
Despite showing off what the HTC smartwatch will look like, the leaks have offered no insight as to what features the device will boast, or even when we can expect it to touch down.
The first Android Wear powered devices launched earlier this month, with both the LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live now available to purchase in the UK.
We will be sure to keep you posted on new HTC smartwatch details as and when we get them.
