Final Fantasy XV details coming at GamesCom

Square Enix’s GamesCom lineup includes Final Fantasy XV, Just Cause 3, Dragon Quest Heroes and more.

This year’s Gamescom is only a few weeks away, so publishers planning to populate the German trade show are starting to announce the many titles they will be bringing to the event.

It seems Square Enix is dreaming big this year, as the publisher is hosting an 1,100 square meter booth with over 200 game stations on the show floor. Attendees will have the chance to play some of company’s biggest upcoming releases from this year and beyond.

And this year it’s all about Final Fantasy XV and Just Cause 3.

Gamescom will be the first time Avalanche’s open-world title Just Cause 3 will be playable for the public ahead of its release in December. Square Enix recently released an insane trailer showcasing the destruction you can cause in the game.

Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward, Life is Strange, Dragon Quest Heroes, The World Tree’s Woe & The Blight Below and the upcoming PC version of Final Fantasy Type-0 will also be playable on the show floor.

Playable demos aren’t the only surprises Square Enix is bringing to Gamescom this year, the publisher will also be hosting a number of theatre presentations for upcoming titles.

These presentations will focus on Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and the new Hitman title revealed at E3. Final Fantasy XV is set to have a “number of exciting presentations”  over the course of the event too, so JRPG fans can rest easy.

It seems that “many well known guests” will be present to discuss new details on the role-playing juggernaut. It is also speculated that fans will get the chance to try out the brand new gameplay demo, titled “Episode Duscae 2.0.”

We don’t know whether Episode Duscae 2.0 will be available to the public at a later date quite yet, the very first demo for Final Fantasy XV was a pre-order bonus for Final Fantasy Type-0 HD back in March.

Microsoft is also hosting its own conference at Gamescom, where it plans to talk about Xbox One exclusives that were not present at E3, such as Quantum Break and Scalebound.

Sony will not be present at Gamescom this year, but have announcements lined up for Paris Games Week in October. It’s the first time in several years the company lacks a presence at the event.

Gamescom will take place from August 5-9 in Cologne, Germany.
