Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be a “multi-part series”

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be released as a “multi-part series,” Square Enix has announced.

So the Final Fantasy 7 Remake will not be released as a single game, but will instead be part of an episodic series.

We don’t really know what Square Enix mean by a “multi-part series,” or how many games we can expect from the Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Speaking to Kotaku, Square Enix sent over this statement regarding the matter:

“It means instead of concluding in one entry, multiple entries are being considered in development. Each entry will have its own unique story. As a gaming experience, each entry will have the volume of content equal to a full-sized game.”

Square Enix has not disclosed how much an individual part will cost, or how much of the original story it will cover.

The remake could always take the same approach as Final Fantasy 13, which saw a total of three games released over a period of 5 years.

We do know that the Final Fantasy 7 Remake will run on Unreal Engine 4, and is in development for PS4.

Sony debuted the first gameplay footage of the remake at its Playstation Experience Keynote this past weekend.

The remake will feature a real-time, action based battle system, instead of the turn-based mechanics found in the original.

PS4 owners can pick up the original Final Fantasy 7 on the Playstation Store for £8.99, and it comes with a free dynamic theme for the time being.
