Final Fantasy 7 FINALLY comes to Android

Final Fantasy 7 remake

Finally, the wait is over – for Android gamers, that is – as Final Fantasy 7 has finally made its way to Android devices.

One of the most beloved games in history is finally available to play on your Android phone or tablet. No doubt you've probably already bought and played it to completion at least three times already, but what's the harm in owning Square Enix's gem on one other platform?

Ten months after its launch on iOS devices, and 19 years after its debut on PSOne, we now have FFVII playable on Android. It costs $15.99/£12.99 and comes with a full suite of customisable touch controls. You can also opt for a virtual touch pad if you prefer the classic form of gameplay.

Naturally, being such a huge game, you're going to need quite a bit of space, 4 GB to be exact, although the game weighs in at 2 GB. The listing on the Google Play Store also warns of some known issues:

"Depending on the terrain and timing of the action, the buggy, submarines, airships, and other modes of transportation may cease to move when the player embarks or disembarks. Currently, the only fix is to restart the game from a data file saved before the bug occurred. We recommend saving frequently and/or utilizing multiple save files. This bug occurs most often when players embark or disembark while extremely close to the terrain, as well as during time-sensitive activities for events.

Please note that the game will not save automatically when escaping from a battle on the world map, even if the Auto Save function is set to the ON setting."

Square Enix is currently hard at work on a complete remaster of Final Fantasy 7 for PlayStation 4, which is set to take place across multiple full-game releases.

We're also right around the corner from the next full entry in the series, with Final Fantasy 15 launching on September 30.
