FIFA 15 PC gets Ignite Engine due to ‘massive community request’

EA has confirmed that FIFA 15 PC will be the first iteration of the football simulator series outside of consoles to use the EA Ignite Engine.

TrustedReviews spoke to FIFA 15 Lead Producer Sebastian Enrique who confirmed FIFA 15 would use Ignite and explained why it was missing in FIFA 14.

It was one of the biggest newest elements introduced for the many sports games in the EA Sports portfolio in 2014, introducing more detailed player movement, improved stadium atmospheres and smarter player AI.

Sadly, the PC version of FIFA 14 was missing the next gen gaming feature and lead producer on last year’s game Enrique revealed that the reason for its omission was down to the fact that EA Sports wanted to focus on the new consoles.

“It’s not that it was never in our heads or an idea we were never going to do it”, said Enrique.

“On the first year we really had to focus our job that there are two new consoles coming. We already had a PC game working, so let’s focus on the PS4 and Xbox One”.

Enrique explained why this was the right time to give FIFA 15 on the PC the Ignite Engine treatment:

“It’s something the community wanted.  In the second year having such a massive community request, it was the right time [to introduce the feature].”

FIFA 15 is set to release on PC, Xbox One, PS4 and last gen consoles on September 26th, the same date rival football game Pro Evolution 2015 is also set to land.
