Farewell, OnePlus 3 – OnePlus officially discontinues sales in US and Europe

This week saw the launch of the long-awaited OnePlus 3T – a souped-up version of the Chinese firm's flagship OnePlus 3.

And while the new handset is undoubtedly an impressive device, many have been wondering about the fate of the equally impressive, if not quite as capable, OnePlus 3.

On Tuesday, a tweet from OnePlus Support seemed to suggest the OnePlus 3, though listed as out of stock on the company's website, would be back in stock in the future.

But now, it seems we've had confirmation the phone will no longer be sold in the US or Europe, with OnePlus confirming to AndroidAuthority the demise of the OnePlus 3 "with no plans to bring it back".

The 3T will go on sale in the US on November 22, and in Europe on November 28, but OnePlus has increased the cost from £329 for the OnePlus 3, to £399 for the 3T in the UK ($439 in the US).

And that's for the 64GB storage option. Those looking to pick up the new 128GB option will have to pay £439 ($479 in the US).

The 3T comes with all the features of the OnePlus 3, but includes an upgraded processor in the form of the Snapdragon 821 chip – which should mean a slight performance boost.

There's the same 6GB RAM in the 3T, along with the same Android OS – though the proprietary Oxygen OS skin has been tweaked – but there's now an upgraded front-facing camera that boasts an impressive 16 megapixels.

Of course, if you're sad to see the OnePlus 3 go, there's always eBay.

I recently bought a Oneplus 3, and price was a big factor.

The 3T, although improved, is a HUGE price hike - nearly 18% by my calculations.
