Fallout 4 bottlecap payment
Man saves thousands of bottle caps to pay for Fallout 4

One man sent a staggering 11 pounds-worth of bottle caps to Bethesda as a form of payment for Fallout 4.

The man, known only as Seth, saved up the 2,240 bottle caps over the course of seven and a half years. That is some impressive commitment to the cause.

The massive Fallout 3 fan explained in a letter to Bethesda (via Imgur): “I got pretty excited when I started seeing more and more about Fallout 4. I’ve also noticed you’re now accepting pre-orders. I only saw prices listed in pre-war dollars, and I wasn’t exactly sure what the exchange rate is these days, so I went ahead and sent everything I’ve been able to save since I played Fallout 3 for the first time."

He continued: "Using my bathroom scale and a number I found on Wikipedia, I’m thinking this is somewhere in the range of 2,240 caps. That ought to cover it right? … Thanks for taking the time to read this, and here’s hoping 7.5 years’ worth of bottle cap hoarding doesn’t just end up in the Bethesda trash can.”

Initially worried about the state of Seth’s liver, TrustedReviews did some quick calculations and worked out that he drank, on average, less than one beer a day (if they're all from beer bottles). Start collecting today, though, and you’ll need to down more than 16 bottles of amber gold every day before the November 11 release to reach his total. We do not recommend this course of action, although the first few days might be kind of fun.

Lucky for Seth the offering wasn’t ignored. Bethesda accepted the pertinent form of payment and has told him that, since he was the first person to do this, he would receive a copy of Fallout 4 when it is released.

According to Seth, Matt from Bethesda told him: “Since I was the first person to do this, I would be receiving a copy of the game this November, and that he would be running my caps over to deposit them at the People's Bank of Point Lookout.”

Matt also sent a tweet saying “Yes, my office smells like beer.”

Read between the lines and that means Bethesda probably won’t be accepting bottle caps as a form of payment from anyone else, so you might want to give your liver a break and pay in cold hard cash instead.
