You can play Fallout 4 for free this weekend
Hit game Fallout 4 will be free to play this weekend on both Steam and Xbox Live, although sadly PlayStation 4 players miss out on the chance to explore the wasteland free of charge.
The free version of the game that will be accessible over the weekend will give players access to the base game along with mod functionality on both platforms. The only caveat of this deal is that you have to have Xbox Live Gold in order to get the free version on the Microsoft console.
Although PlayStation players may not be able to play for free, they will be able to take advantage of the Fallout 4 sale that will be running this weekend too. This sale will be across all console platforms and offer discounts up to 67% off the full game and season pass.
Fallout 4 came to the current generation of consoles and PC last year and was received extremely positively. If, for some reason, you haven’t ventured out into the wasteland yet, now is the perfect time to see that war never changes.
We gave Fallout 4 a solid 4/5 score in our review, praising the game’s action-packed tactical gameplay, beautiful post-apocalyptic world, and classic Fallout tone and black humour. We were also impressed by the deep base-building, character and crafting systems.
Here’s our verdict:
“It can be rough around the edges and it takes a while to gel, but once it does this is as gripping an RPG as Bethesda has ever produced. We’ll handle disappointments like the lengthy loading times, poor facial animation and minor bugs because Fallout 4’s world is so rich, strange and beautiful, and because the stories you can make in it are so compelling. Buy it, then dig in for the season.”
