Facebook has updated its Community Standards page to lay out exactly what it’ll allow in terms of user uploaded photos showing nudity.

The 2,500 word document (via BBC) is significantly longer than the previous version and features a detailed section entitled ‘Encouraging respectful behaviour.’

Within the section, Facebook leaves very little ambiguity over what it’ll tolerate in photos posted to the site.

"We remove photographs of people displaying genitals or focusing in on fully exposed buttocks. We also restrict some images of female breasts if they include the nipple," the firm says.

However, the Facebook makes clear there are some exceptions to its nudity policy, stating it will “always allow photos of women actively engaged in breastfeeding or showing breasts with post-mastectomy scarring. We also allow photographs of paintings, sculptures, and other art that depicts nude figures.”

The update comes following a long-standing controversy over Facebook’s deleting of breastfeeding photos, with the hashtag #FreeTheNipple becoming a trending topic across the web.

For those who need the extra warning, the Community Standards page adds: “Explicit images of sexual intercourse are prohibited. Descriptions of sexual acts that go into vivid detail may also be removed.”

What do you make of Facebook's new terms? Let us know your thoughts below. We don't mind if you're clothed or not.
