Facebook’s 360-degree videos come to iOS

Facebook is bringing its 360-degree video content to iOS users, two months after it launched on Android and the web. In more good news, there’ll be plenty more to watch for everyone.

In post on its Media blog (via Engadget) the firm revealed is has also also acquired more content providers including the likes of ABC News, BuzzFeed, Apple Daily, Frontine, Scream Queens from Fox and Nickelodeon.

360-degree sports videos will also come from the New Orleans Saints and LeBron James & Uninterrupted.

Facebook has also announced a few updates to the platform with the Samsung Gear VR users now able to play 360-degree moves directly from their News Feed, meaning a more immersive experience.

The company is also making it easier to upload 360 videos directly from some consumer camera models.

Devices from the likes of Theta, Giroptic and IC Real Tech are adding ‘publish to Facebook’ options from their native mobile apps.

There are also new resources for content creators with video control pages offering greater post production, as well a microsite to advise videographers on best practice.

Facebook also says it is introducing 360-degree video ads from the likes of AT&T, Walt Disney World, Corona and Samsung.
