Apple’s launch event is in full swing, and the first wave of announcements is all about the Apple Watch.
Apple CEO Tim Cook took to the stage first, saying: “Just a few months ago we made Apple Watch available to our customers around the world. It’s already changing their daily lives and they love using it.”
Cook continues: “Customer satisfaction is an incredible 97% [for the Apple Watch].”
The CEO then called Jeff Williams, Senior VP of Operations, onto the stage, to make some revelations about the Apple Watch.
“Developers have been hard at work. There are already over 10,000 Watch apps on the App Store,” explains Williams. “And now, with native apps, developers can do even more.”
An example of that was confirmation that Facebook Messenger will be coming to the Apple Watch.
This will allow users of the wearable to send texts, audio messages, and share their location “right from the wrist”.
Apple also revealed that the iTranslate app would be coming to the Watch. This will let users speak into the microphone, and see and hear translations in 90 languages.
There’s also a dedicated GoPro app coming to the Apple Watch, which will function as a viewfinder for action camera footage.

But new features aren’t the only topic of interest. Next up was the aesthetics of the fashion-focused wearable.
“When we created Apple Watch, we knew it had to be an expression of your personal taste and style,” says Williams.
The VP then showed off a new Apple Watch strap designed by luxury brand Hermes.
There’ll also be two new Apple Watch Sport variants – Gold and Aluminium – available at the same price as the rest of the Sport line-up.
Also, the (Product) RED Sport Band that was leaked earlier today will also be coming to the Apple Watch – proceeds will go to charity.
The new models will be shipping across 24 countries – including the UK – starting from today. Apple watchOS 2, meanwhile, will be available from 16th September.
