Facebook has blocked Twitter Vine app users from connecting with their Facebook friends, by disabling the “find people” button within the video-sharing app.
Any user trying to access the feature are met with an error message that says “Vine is not authorized to make this Facebook request.”
Facebook and Twitter have not commented on the development. As of yet it is not known whether the issue is a glitch within the app, or the latest in the series of rumoured hostilities between the micro-blogging site and the social media giant.
Facebook-owned Instragram disabled the feature that allowed Twitter to properly display posted photos via a Twitter feed at the end of last year. Instead Twitter users had no choice but to click through to the main Instagram site to view them in full.
Facebook also blocked the friend-finding functionalities of micro-blogging site Tumblr in August last year.
Twitter’s video-sharing app, Vine, launched yesterday and allows users to post looping videos six seconds or less in length onto their Twitter feed, keeping in line with the micro-blogging site’s brevity ethos.
Aside from the Facebook friend finding issues, Vine also had to update its app shortly after release due to some “launch day hiccups”. Quite a bumpy start for the Twitter startup.
The Vine app is currently available as an Apple iOS app for iPhone and iPod touch. Availability for other platforms will soon follow, according to Vine.
