Fable Legends announced for Xbox One at Gamescom

Microsoft and Lionhead Studios has announced at Gamescom 2013 that Fable Legends will be arriving for Xbox One sometime in the future.

Father than Fable 4, Lionhead Studios will be the next entry in the Fable series, set during Albion’s age of heroes, around 400 years before the first game.

Designed as a four-player co-op adventure, gamers will play as one of a number of heroes, each touting a different skill.

At Gamescom, Lionhead Studios showcased a blonde and curvy female hero who is particularly skilled with a sword, another third-person perspective archer and a female barbarian from Yorkshire. There’s a sorcerer too, whose magic can slow down enemies at will.

However, to spice gameplay up a bit, a fifth gamer will control the villain of Fable Legends. Viewing the game map from a top-down perspective, the villain can place enemies, ambushes, traps and more to overcome the hero foursome.

Intended only as an online-multiplayer game, Fable Legends is said to take advantage of the Xbox One cloud gaming capabilities.

Fable Legends will also allow gamers to use the Xbox SmartGlass app technology as a second-screen for the game.

Although no official release date has been given for this new Xbox One exclusive, Lionhead Studios has confirmed that it won’t be a launch game for Microsoft’s next-gen console.

Microsoft also announced that it will be offering one of a selection of “blockbuster titles” as a free download with every Xbox One pre-order.

However, with Amazon UK starting to warn gamers that Xbox One pre-order are no longer guaranteed to arrive at launch, you better get your order in pretty sharpish.
