Breaking the laws of physics...?
I’ve always wanted to bicep curl a widescreen LCD and now Evesham has provided me with the chance to fulfil a lifelong dream.
Ok so I’m talking garbage as is not uncommon but I dare every new owner of the company’s featherweight T1505 to resist the urge to push out a few reps when they lift it from the box. After all, how often do you hold 15.2in widescreen display that weighs just 1.75Kg?!
In fact, being honest, when a paragraph into Evesham’s release yesterday afternoon I was ready to scream “Typo!” before the handy specs sheet eased my pinky away from the Cap Lock key. Casting my eyes further down this magical list I was also greeted by an array of surprisingly competent figures: a 1024 x 768 native resolution, 335 x 210mm display area, 16.7m colours, 450:1 contrast ratio, 450 cd/m2 brightness, 150 degree viewing angle and 16ms response time. Granted these stats aren’t going to break any records, but proportional to its size and weight they’re really rather impressive.
Designed for use as either a portable monitor or TV, the T1505 accepts a VGA connection, AVI Composite or S-Video, has two built in speakers and sports a 3.5mm headphone mini jack. Power consumption is just 40w and it supports PAL, NTSC and SECUM colour systems.
Coming in at a very reasonable £229.99 including VAT the T1505 could find itself a hit with those strange creatures who drive caravans, the Pimp My Ride crew and weaklings. It attempts to hit but only manages to pat down gently on shelves now.
