Ergo is a smart, connected standing desk

They say sitting is the smoking of this generation. Obviously standing to work is much healthier. This standing desk is better than most, complete with wireless charging skills and its own voice-activated assistant. Take a look.

As soon as you approach Ergo, it adjusts to your preferred height using silent motors. It’ll read out appointments and messages, and you can ask it requests, like to answer the incoming Skype call or to play an album of your choosing. It’ll also connect to your fitness tracker and tell you how far you’ve walked. Or how far off you are hitting your daily goal.

If all this sounds tiring, then it can lower itself using the same silent motors, so you can take a load off.

It can also control your lights and thermostat, providing they’re Wi-Fi connected.

It’s cut to fit your body, so you can rest your arms as you would on a normal desk. USB ports underneath let you charge your mobile or tablet, and there’s a built-in wireless charging plate, if your phone supports that tech.

Like a pub table, there’s a hook to hang your bag on. But unlike a pub table, it’ll remember your ideal height and go to it when told.

It comes in a range of finishes, both for the frame and the desktop. And it costs from $399 (£261) for both.

It’s passed its funding goal and still has over three weeks to go.
