Another e-tailer bites the dust.
Empire Direct has become the latest company to succumb to the trials of the recession. Following in the footsteps of Woolworth’s and Zavvi the company has entered into administration, effective yesterday.
Empire Direct is no longer operating at all, with its customers being advised that: “The business is unable to trade in administration due to low stock levels and operating losses and accordingly the stores have been closed. The administrators are working hard to assess the position for customers who have made payments and not received goods. We will endeavour to contact these customers over the next few weeks.“
158 of Empire Direct’s 350 employees have been made redundant as a result of entering into administration, with the futures of the remaining staff hardly looking secure.
Anyone with an outstanding order will almost certainly either want to contact the customer helpline (08714729000) or email firstname.lastname@example.org to find out exactly where they stand in terms of getting either whatever was ordered, or a refund.
