Elon Musk says Samsung isn't making Tesla Model 3 batteries - but could it help elsewhere?

Elon Musk has denied reports that Samsung will provide batteries to help Tesla meet high Model 3 demand.

Yesterday saw a report from Reuters claim that Tesla was in talks with Samsung SDI over the provision of batteries for its forthcoming Model 3.

It's been widely reported that Elon Musk's electric car company will struggle to meet the higher than expect demand for its first mass-market vehicle. The implication here is that Tesla's battery partner Panasonic will struggle to meet its quota of batteries for the Model 3.

That's a claim that Elon Musk himself has now rubbished.

Musk also clarified that the Model S and Model X batteries were still being made by Panasonic, too.

Interestingly, the original report also claimed that Samsung would be supplying Tesla with batteries for its energy storage products, such as the Tesla Power Wall.

Musk's rebuttal deals specifically with the Tesla vehicle side of things. Does this omission mean that the Samsung is indeed helping Tesla out with its home and commercial power-storing efforts?
