Tesla’s Elon Musk ‘hopes Apple gets into the car business’

Tesla founder Elon Musk has spoken out on the matter of an Apple Car, and he’s surprisingly cheerful about the prospect.

Responding to an analyst questioning whether an Apple Car would mean bad business for Tesla, Musk brushed off any concerns.

I actually hope Apple gets into the car business, that would be great,” the CEO explained.

Apple has been rumoured to be working on a car project, codename ‘Titan’, for quite some time.

The company has yet to make any official comment on whether the rumours are true, but mounting evidence suggests Apple is involved with automotive tech on some level.

A recent AppleInsider report detailed how the company was likely conducting top-secret vehicle research and development unmarked warehouses in California.

We also know that Apple has been poaching Tesla employees, although it’s not been made clear what the purpose of these new hires is.

Earlier this year, Musk revealed that Apple was trying ‘very hard’ to nab Tesla workers, with signing bonuses purportedly valuing up to $250,000.

Now, however, Musk claims that Tesla isn’t losing any significant figure of employees to Apple; in fact, the opposite is true.

According to the Tesla boss, the car company has poached five times as many engineers from Apple as Apple has from Tesla.
