The UK’s EE network has revealed SIM-only deals for its new 4G service, with 4G capable handset owners able to make use of the UK's first high-speed service for a little as £21 per month.

Available to consumers who already tout a 4G-capable phone, EE's new SIM-only deals allow users to swap their SIM card for a new 4G EE one, as long as the handset is unlocked or EE-ready, compatible with the operator's 4G network and assuming they can get 4G coverage in their area of the country that is.

Since the fledgling 4G service (backed by Orange and T-Mobile) started at the end of October it has been providing handsets with 24-month contracts. 4G-ready phones include the Apple iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 LTE, HTC One XL and Nokia Lumia 920. It’s taken almost a month for EE’s first SIM-only options to appear.

The prices are £10 cheaper than the “with-phone” contracts, and they are for a minimum of 12 months instead of two years.

Monthly prices start at £21, which has a data allowance of 500MB. That rises to £26 per month for 1GB, £31 for 3GB or £36 per month for 5GB of inclusive data. At the moment there is no top-tier 8GB option for SIM-only (that’s limited to contract customers with an EE-supplied mobile or 4G broadband dongle).
