EA Access for Xbox One may soon include Xbox 360 games

Electronic Arts is considering adding older Xbox 360 games to its EA Access membership platform for Xbox One.

In a tweet, the company said it was “investigating” making previous-generation games available as part of the subscription service.

The move wouldn’t offer the same added value as Microsoft’s own backwards-compatibility scheme, which will roll out later this year.

Microsoft is planning to offer free access to games that Xbox One gamers have already purchased for Xbox 360. Many developers have signed up, but many high-profile studios and publishers – including EA – are yet to follow suit.

As far as EA’s potential initiative goes, it seems there would be little benefit for those who bought the likes of FIFA, Madden and Origins on the 360, before upgrading to the Xbox One.

However, at just £3.99 ($4.99) a month or £19.99 ($29.99) a year for full access to a wide range of top EA Xbox One titles – such as Titanfall, Madden 15, FIFA 15, Battlefield 4 and more – adding previous-generation titles would certainly be a bonus for subscribers.

The membership service will also allow gamers access to upcoming EA games such as Star Wars Battlefront, Madden 16 and Rory McIlroy PGA Tour for a limited time before the release.
