EA E3 press conference – as it happened

Trusted Reviews games editor Brett Phipps is at the Novo Theatre, ready and waiting for the conference. I'm back at base ready to update this article with all the latest news. You can see every important headline below, as it happens.

Live blog, newest posts first

2156: Battlefield 1

We're about to get an in-depth look at the gameplay of Battlefield 1, which will immediately follow the press conference. Stay tuned.

Battlefield 1 will have dynamic weather, which will change the way each game plays and will require you to shift your tactics. No real details on exactly how, but it sounds interesting.

There are also the 'Behemoths', some of the largest vehicles ever made, which sounds like they're going to be an epic amount of fun to drive, if you can get your hands on one.

The latest gameplay trailer might be the most epic thing I've ever seen. Watching an airship explode and tumble to the ground, and watching a train being chased by men on horseback... Just watch it for yourself.

2150: Star Wars

Jade Raymond from Motive Studios comes on stage to talk about EA's Star Wars franchise.

Not many details, but a second Battlefront game from Visceral will be coming in 2017, with a brand-new Star Wars game by Respawn Entertainment coming some time after that, probably 2018.

2145: EA Originals

EA Originals is a new scheme to support indie developers and bringing their projects to life. EA will pick studios and work with them from the very start of the development process all the way through to when the game is published, and beyond.

All the profit these studios make will go back into the studios themselves, which sounds mighty generous.

The developer of a very pretty-looking indie game, Fe, comes on stage to talk about the project. It's all about our relationship with nature, apparenly, and it looks fairly adoable.

2133: FIFA 17

Fake football player Alex Hunter comes on stage to introduce the new story mode element for FIFA 17, The Journey.

This is an entirely new aspect to FIFA 17, and we have more details in our piece linked above.

Premier League managers are all rendered in game, looking as grizzled as ever. Jose Morinho appears on stage to talk about his in-game representation.

FIFA 17 has overhauled its physics, more complex set pieces and streamlined on-the-ball control. All that, and completely overhauled graphics.

2126: Mass Effect Andromeda

Aaron Flynn from Bioware comes on stage. We already know quite a lot about the game, which you can see via the link above. Here, we're shown a behind-the-scenes video.

The video shows some of the development and design of the game, with gameplay snippets thrown in.

Brett Phipps is less impressed:

"Mass Effect: Andromeda still seems very light on details considering the game is out relatively soon. March is right around the corner in gaming terms, and to still see no solid gameplay footage is a little worrying. Was expecting a big blowout of information for one of early 2017's biggest games."

2120: Madden NFL 17

A new trailer for Madden 17 is revealed. Various new competitive events are announced, with live streams, big prize money and epic competition.

2113: Titanfall 2

Zampella is on stage to reveal (for the second time today) Titanfall 2's single player campaign. But first, he begins with gameplay footage from the game's multiplayer portion.

Frankly, it looks absolutely epic. In just a few seconds we see scores of new weapons, menoeuvres and Titans. We'll be picking over this trailer for quite some time. Zampella then sarcastically introduces the single player trailer, acknowledging this morning's leak.

Brett Phipps, at the show:

"Titanfall 2 looks as fast and fluid as you remember, complete with a bunch of cool new gadgets, badass Titan melee and even a grappling hook. The guns sound much meatier this time around. Multiplayer looks so much fun, and now PS4 gamers can see what all the fuss is about"

2109: Andrew Wilson, CEO of EA, begins the show

"Consider this next hour to be a taste... we're inviting you in to play."

2100: Pre-show thoughts from Brett Phipps, who's sitting next to Microsoft's head of Xbox, Phil Spencer:

"I haven't stopped staring at Phil Spencer as I eagerly await his phone to buzz and be informed of the Xbox One Slim leak. I'm hoping for a phone-crushing rage."

1800: EA leaks Titanfall 2 trailer

EA kicked off its press conference a few hours early, accidently broadcasting rehearsals live online, revealing the Titanfall 2 campaign trailer. The company has now posted the trailer on its official YouTube channel, so that's one less surprise for the press conference.
