Dyson humidifier unveiled as a healthy answer to dry air

Having mastered the vacuum cleaner, fan and hand dryer markets, Dyson has turned its hand to something new with the Dyson humidifier.

Looking to eradicate dry skin and chapped lips, the Dyson humidifier moistens the air in your home, utilising the same Air Multiplier technology as the company’s leading fans and heaters – such as the Dyson Hot and Cool.

Not content with simply tackling the issue of dry air, the new machine is looking to do so in a healthy, germ-free manner.

“Humidifiers are a way to create a more hygienic environment at home,” Dyson founder and serial inventor James Dyson said.

He added: “Using patented UV light technology our humidifier kills 99.9 per cent of bacteria in the machine before projecting hydrated mist evenly throughout the room.

The Dyson humidifier vibrates water at up to 1.7 million times per second, breaking it down into microscopic particles which are then accelerated through the machine’s loop amplifier and into the air.

Capable of running for 18 hours on a single tank of water, the machine will be available in two colour schemes: silver/black and blue/black.

With the air-moistening machine having cost a staggering £37.5 million to develop, don’t expect Dyson’s first humidifier to be easy on your wallets when it hits the UK next year.

Although pricing is still to be confirmed, the Dyson humidifier release date has been set for March 2015 in the UK.
