Dualo is a musical instrument anyone can master

Learning a musical instrument usually requires years of disciplined practice, but Dualo promises to be easier than that.

It’s simple to pick up, yet versatile enough to keep you playing for years. It contains 52 instrument sounds, so you can play a whole orchestra in something small enough to throw in a backpack.

You don’t need to hook it up to a computer, smartphone or tablet either. Just plug in a pair of headphones or a Bluetooth speaker, and you’re away.

It can record sounds from your other instruments too, like guitars, piano, bass and percussion. Lay down a loop, and you can start layering sounds over it, making your own masterpiece.

Need help? You can access video tutorials online to help you get to grips with just what the instrument can do. There’s no need for sheet music either – just press the keys that light up to follow the tutorial. Simple.

It hooks up to more complex music software, so it can be as involved as you like. And you can make your own samples and play around with them as you see fit.

It’s passed its funding goal and still has 27 days to go. Some of the early birds have sold out, but if you’re quick, you can nab one for €349 (£277). It’ll ship in December.
