Apple will unveil the first waterproof iPhone this week… and it’ll come in five colours. That’s the latest from respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who released a research report to investors ahead of Thursday’s launch.

Kuo says the iPhone 7 range will benefit from the same IP7X waterproofing technology as the original Apple Watch.

That means it’ll survive a drop in the washing up bowl and short underwater stints at depths of up to one metre. If this is true, we can’t wait to hear Tim Cook announce it on Wednesday like Apple invented water resistance.

Kuo also claims (via MacRumors) the phone will arrive in five different colours, which will include two shades of black, a matt dark black and a glossy piano black.

That’s backed up by the leak of test stickers uncovered by @the_malignant on Twitter and also the previous appearance of purported iPhone 7 SIM tray.

Space Gray will be a thing of the past according to the KGI Securities analyst, while silver, gold and rose gold will remain.

Also on Kuo’s hit list is the A10 processor and the absence of the headphone jack, which will allow for the inclusion of a larger speaker and a new sensor to improve Force Touch.

Interestingly, Kuo says Apple is boosting the audio abilities by turning the earpiece receiver in to a speaker, enabling stereo sound.

Kuo believes the click-less Home button is also coming, along with the dual 12-megapixel camera lenses on the iPhone 7 Plus.

Kuo has a decent track record when it comes to predicting these things, so it’ll be interesting to see whether he nails it when Apple unveils the devices on Wednesday.
