Droplet is a physical button that makes sure you don’t forget

One of the downsides of better connectivity is that there are so many distractions. Sure, you can set reminders on your phone, but they can get lost among all the others. And you can dismiss them with a single swipe.

Droplet is harder to ignore. It’s a physical button that you have to press to stop it badgering you. Here’s how it works.

Say you need to remember to take your medication every day. Fix the Droplet button to your bottle of pills and set it up on the app. You’ll get reminders through the app that it’s time to take your medicine, and they won’t stop until you press the Droplet button to let it know you’ve done so. In other words, you have to physically go to the bottle of pills to silence the app. Which means you’re far less likely to forget to take your medicine.

It can do more than that. It can order you more of a selected item at the press of a button, just like Amazon Dash buttons. Or you can configure it to perform other online actions, like log work hours in a spreadsheet, or send an automated text message.

It can also send emails or voice messages without the use of a smartphone, so you’ll know if a relative hasn’t taken their medicine. Or a housemate hasn’t taken the bins out. (Though the smell should make that pretty obvious.)

It’s just launched on Kickstarter, with prices starting at $39 (£27).
