Dremel, the Bosch-owned company beloved of PC modders everywhere, has launched a new 3D printer aimed at home users who want to tinker with 3D printing at CES 2015.
The Dremel 3D Idea Printer claims to be the most “user-friendly 3D printing experience on the market” and aims to create a community of users who use its printer.
In partnership with Autodesk Inc., Dremel will provide free, ready to use 3D models and design tools through its Dremel3D.com website. Users will be mentored by Dremel Experts, who will help owners learn the basics and explore the possibilities of the new 3D printer.
“Dremel 3D will enable people to take 3D printing to new levels, from
imaginative projects for the home, to inventive projects that may impact
the world,” said John Kavanagh, president of Dremel.
“Makers have been
using Dremel tools to make three-dimensional creations with cutting
tools for generations. Today, makers are using Dremel tools to fine-tune
and fix their 3D printed creations and have been asking us to introduce
a 3D printer. We’re proud to offer them the Idea Builder and we can’t
wait to watch them build what’s next.”
Key features of the Dremel 3D Idea Builder include a full colour touch screen, ‘best in class’ 100 micron print resolution and a removable build platform for larger prints.

It’s only available in the US at present, where you can buy it from $999 from Home Depot.
