Draw Something 2 release confirmed as ‘coming soon’

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest has become the unusual source for some tech related news, taking to Twitter to announce the upcoming Draw Something 2 release.

A follow-on to the artistic based app sensation, Draw Something 2 has been confirmed as “coming soon”, with the sequel to the globally popular Draw Something set to introduce a raft of new drawing and connectivity options.

Seacrest, who is set to host the televised Draw Something quiz show, based on the app phenomenon, revealed the upcoming app addition via Twitter, teasing the second-generation social gaming release with a picture, drawn within the game, of American Idol stars Randy Jackson and Mariah Carey.

“I somehow convinced them to give me #DrawSomething 2 first… this may be the best Mariah & Randy have ever looked,” the American presenter Tweeted.

Backing up Seacrest’s somewhat unusual reveal, Dan Porter, CEO of gaming site OMGPOP also took to Twitter to help confirm the upcoming Draw Something 2 release.

“@RyanSeacrest thanks! So excited to confirm #DrawSomething2 is coming soon w/ new ways to draw & connect,” Porter said.

Although interest in the original Draw Something app has subsided considerably since its peak as a global talking point, interest in the newly confirmed Draw Something 2 is sure to be high, with the improved connectivity and drawing capabilities to help enhance continued gameplay.

Based on the Draw Something 2 image released by Seacrest, the new title looks set to add a selection of backgrounds and effects to the standard pen tools, with stamps also tipped for inclusion.

What’s more, whilst confirmed Draw Something 2 features have yet to be confirmed, a chat bubble on the emerged screen shot have hinted that the game’s connectivity options could be improved by live in-app instant messaging which would allow for instant communication between gamers during games.
