Drake is today’s reminder that your online security probably sucks
Hot on the heels of the Mark Zuckerberg hack, Canadian rapper Drake has had his Twitter account compromised – because he reused the same password across multiple social media sis.
In the latest round of ‘pretty much everyone’s online security sucks’, the hip-hop icon got done over by a hacker with the online handle of Aiden.
All it took for the teenager to get some free publicity for their Snapchat channel was a quick browse of the recent MySpace password dump, as Drake had apparently used the same codeword to secure both accounts.
Whoops.
Speaking to Gizmodo, Aiden said he could probably go to town on Drake’s online presence but wouldn’t.
“Could prob get into some of his other stuff. But I’m done. Not tryna catch charges,” the millennial said with complete disregard for the English language.
Celebrity social media hacks are about as interesting as what’s for lunch at your Nan’s assisted living facility, but they do serve as Yet Another Reminder that you probably need to spruce up your online security.
Basic tips include things like enabling two-factor authentication, not reusing the same passwords across multiple accounts, and generally not being a goon.
