Double speed EE 4G in 12 cities coming today

EE has launched double speed 4G in twelve countries across the UK today, adding two more cities to the existing plans.

Originally saying it would launch double speed 4G in ten British cities, EE’s team has manage to extend that to two more cities.

“We have over 25 per cent coverage in the UK already,” explained Olaf Swantee, CEO of EE. “The speeds that you will find is doubling vs our existing 4G speeds. That’s top speeds of 150Mbps.”

The double speed 4G will be available to existing 4G EE customers at no extra cost. The switchover will start tomorrow across the twelve cities, with customers experiencing pretty ground-breaking headline speeds.

“We have the world’s fastest network here in the UK. It’s better than the US and in line with the fastest networks in Korea.”

Average speeds will be boosted to 24 – 30Mbps, making it easier for customers to share their content, surf the net and tether multiple devices.

“We want to stay one step ahead, because at the core of our brand, EE, is innovation. We want to be bold, and because we can we will stay one step ahead.”

If in a participating city, all existing customers will be upgraded to double speed 4G until the end of their contract.

“Our new double speed 4G technology means that we have the biggest, fastest and best network in the UK, and now the equal fastest in the world. With our superfast network, we have a unique opportunity to introduce a new era of customer-friendly pricing models based on speed, and we’ll be revealing further details of this later this year.”
