Doro: Our future is in smartphones

Senior handset specialist Doro has told TrustedReviews its future lies in the smartphone sector.

Despite the company specialising in accessible feature phones for the over 65s, Doro has branched out with a number of ‘smart’ touchscreen offerings of late, most recently with the Doro Liberto 820.

Although the company’s smartphone efforts currently make up just a small part of its business, Doro has suggested this is where it sees its long-term future being focussed.

“This is absolutely where we see Doro’s future,” Chris Millington, Managing Director of Doro UK said discussing the smartphone space recently.

Speaking exclusive with TrustedReviews he explained: “The penetration of mobile phones into the senior market is well over 90 per cent.

“The average user keeps their phone for more than three years and 58 per cent of our audience is interested in moving to a smartphone.”

Despite the existing Doro Liberto 810 yet to hit 50,000 global sales, the company has remained positive on its future smartphone plans.

According to Millington, seniors are now pushing for accessible smart devices.

“The pester power is now there,” he told us.

Discussing when Doro’s extended smartphone push will kick into action, he added: “Mobile World Congress for us needs to be about smartphones.

“Obviously there is a road map for smartphones being prepared, readied and built.”
