Meet the Doro 8030 Android smartphone

Doro has announced that the Doro 8030 is coming to Carphone Warehouse, boasting a cheerfully cheap price tag of just £99.

The Doro 8030 is a successor to last year’s Doro Liberto 820 Mini, and now features 4G LTE connectivity. It also runs on Google’s Android operating system, albeit a modified version with an interface that uses “verbs instead of apps to drive actions”. Apparently this is a simpler way of navigating for people who aren’t tech-savvy. Other features include a 5-megapixel camera, hearing-aid compatibility, GPS, an assistance button, and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 chip.

You’ll be able to pick up the new Doro phone at Carphone Warehouse from £11.50 per month, including on Carphone’s own iD network. The phone is also available for £99.99 on Pay-As-You-Go, and will ship in black/steel finish.

Doro also announced two other feature phones' arrival at Carphone Warehouse, both of which are perfect for anyone looking for a quick nostalgia hit. The Doro 6520 is a 3G handset that includes top-of-the-range features like internet browsing and e-mail – all for £49.99. There’s also the Doro 5516, which lets you call, text, and view content on an “extra large” 2.4-inch screen. That’s available in a graphite colour at Carphone Warehouse on a £6-per-month plan.

Speaking about the handsets, Chris Millington, MD of Doro UK, said: “We are pleased to have three new Doro devices listed with Carphone Warehouse – not everyone in our core target market is the same and with this collection, we have a range that caters for all and delivers exceptional value."

You’ll be able to pick up the three Doro phones in the UK from September 29.
