Donald Trump’s iPhone boycott was a huge failure

It looks like Trump was blowing a load of hot air…

Donald Trump has struggled to stick to his own iPhone boycott, it seems.

Last month, the US presidential candidate called for support to abstain from using Apple products, but apparently hasn’t been able to keep it up.

Marketing Land investigated Trump’s tweets in the aftermath of his Apple outrage, and found that the majority of the politician’s posts still come from an iPhone.

The outlet tracked 200 tweets between 23 February – four days after the call for the boycott – to Friday morning (26 February).

It found that 101 of those tweets were sent using Twitter’s iPhone app, 98 using Android, and one using the desktop version of Twitter.

That’s in contrast to rival candidate Hillary Clinton’s tweets, of which just one was sent using an iPhone. Instead, Clinton prefers TweetDeck (147) and the desktop site (52).

Trump’s initial call for a boycott came after he sided against Apple in the company’s FBI standoff.

Apple’s refusal to create an iPhone backdoor for the FBI to use in an investigation into the San Bernardino case spurred Trump to post the following tweets:

No one gets a backdoor, not even China. If they did they would just send the phone to China but no one has a backdoor as Apple hasn't created the software to get in. Tim Cook said if they were forced to create this program it would be a digital form of Cancer.

What Chinese backdoor?

Also you upvoted your own post...just because you can doesn't mean you should.
