Does the iPhone 7 have a Bluetooth problem?

Given Apple’s axing of the 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth connectivity has become far more important.

So it’s rather disconcerting to hear reports suggesting the Bluetooth connectivity on the iPhone 7 is causing users problems.

A reader poll carried out by Gizmodo brought multiple replies from iPhone 7 owners claiming Bluetooth connectivity was acting up in a number of situations.

Different readers claimed they could not connect to their car or speakers automatically, while others said they were struggling with poor connectivity on headphones and Bluetooth adapters.

A couple of readers reported CarPlay functionality is no longer working since upgrading the handset. They also claim to not be experiencing these difficulties with older handsets running iOS 10.

9to5Mac conducted a poll among readers with 23 per cent (1,416) of iPhone 7 owners claiming they were having Bluetooth problems.

However, the waters are muddied slightly by the 26 per cent (1,613) of people who claimed to be having problems with Bluetooth on iOS 10 devices that aren’t using iPhone 7 handsets.

It would seem from this the flaw is software related rather than a hardware problem, but Apple is yet to officially address the issue.

Perhaps a swift iOS 10 update will sort things out in the near future?

After bullishly dispensing of the 100+ year-old technology earlier this month, an issue with wireless connectivity is far from a good look for Apple.
